FOOD DONATION

With any new food donor -- be it a restaurant, hotel, grocery store, or large event--the SOS Indonesia team has a standard process to ensure food donation is safe, convenient, and effective.

WHAT HAPPENS

TO LEFTOVER FOOD
AT RESTAURENT AND HOTEL BUFFETS?

For those working with Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Indonesia, no food goes to waste. This non-profit 'food rescue' organisation collects perfectly edible surplus food from businesses and redistributes it to communities in need.

A huge thank you to Marriott International

for their donation of a new food truck, nicknamed “Sadeva”, to Scholars of Sustenance Bali. The launch event took place on 16 April 2024 and follows the launch of the first food truck in Jakarta in October 2023. In addition to celebrating our expanded capacity in Indonesia, the recent event also delivered 200 food packs to Yayasan Penyandang Anak Cacat (YPAC), a home for disabled children, symbolizing the commitment to support vulnerable communities in Bali. Hope you enjoy this short video of the day!

Thank you Nowbalimag, Marriott Indonesia for awesome cilp.

Seeing first-hand the good work that SOS does to reduce food waste and redirect it to people who really need it, we were extremely excited to partner with this remarkable non-profit organization. Their professionalism and ease to work with encouraged us to expand our partnership, from just three hotels in Bali alone, to now seven. We look forward to SOS's expansion to other cities in Indonesia, so that we can continue to work closely with them in the future. Archipelago's commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, reducing plastic waste and supporting the local community is strong not only in Bali, but across the Indonesian Archipelago, too.

W Bali’s team is passionate to partner with S.O.S on this amazing program. Having worked in many hotels around the world I know firsthand how much waste can come from hosting large events. Having someone come collect the delicious food that we cannot resell and donate it to charities to feed locals in need is touching. I am proud to see the food leaving the hotel for a good cause. I hope everyone can take this program and integrate it in their own cities around the world to end hunger.
