On 12th June 2020, Scholars of Sustenance-Thailand, under the first collaboration with Suntory PepsiCo and volunteers from Social Development and Human Security Ministry, visited and distributed care packages in The community called Klong Lang (คลองล่าง) – the community located in the gap of authority between two districts (Bangkok Noi district and Tawee Wattana district) hence, fell under the sight of the public authority. There had been no support from any of the governments or corporate which means no relief bags, no community kitchen by CODI, or any other parties.

Our team along with the Suntory PepsiCo team, Khun Charonchai, Corporate Affairs Director, and Khun Patikorn, Public Affairs Managers, visited the community with the volunteer leader to participate in the distribution process.

On that day, in this the collaboration campaign, we have provided 200 bags of care packages, containing 5 Kg. pack of rice, dry goods, shelf-stable supplies, and other necessities which equivalent to 26 meals per bag. The head of volunteers, Khun Suriya have set up the 3 criteria on receiving the support from this distribution. The priority is the elderly who are more than 60 years old and incapable of having an income. The second priority is the families that have bedridden and chronic cases within their family members. Third in priority list are the low-income family that directly affected by COVID-19 (unemployed, lay off by the employer, and unable to conduct business).

Even in a difficult time, Scholars of sustenance-Thailand are restlessly contributing and supports communities in need, and today is the meaningful day for the official kickoff in our collaboration between SOS-Thailand and Suntory-PepsiCo.
