Celebrating the SOS Thailand Awards 2025: Honoring Winners in the Fight Against Hunger and Food Waste

SOS Thailand Awards 2025

Scholars of Sustenance Foundation Thailand (SOS Thailand), the nation’s first food rescue foundation, marks the beginning of a new decade in transforming Thailand’s food system with the event “SOS Thailand Awards 2025” on October 16, 2025, at SAMA Garden, BITEC Bangna, under the theme “The Path Beyond Our Decade.”

The event celebrated over nine years of food rescue operations across four branches — Bangkok, Hua Hin, Phuket, and Chiang Mai — together with partners from across sectors who have been instrumental in creating lasting positive social and environmental impacts.

This year’s event reflected SOS Thailand’s journey from a small organization with a focused mission to reduce Food Loss and Food Waste in Thailand to becoming a national and international network that bridges the public, private, and civil society sectors to drive a more equitable and inclusive food system where no one is left behind.

Over the past nine years, SOS Thailand has rescued more than 15.3 million kilograms of surplus food from businesses across the country, transforming them into over 64 million meals distributed to communities, networks, schools, and charities across more than 5,100 communities nationwide — reinforcing the belief that “Surplus food always holds value for those in need.”

SOS Thailand Awards 2025

The SOS Thailand Awards 2025 shone a spotlight on changemakers who are redefining Thailand’s food sustainability movement — driven by passion, collaboration, and purpose.

Janett Rungsithikul, Senior Marketing Manager of Brand Purpose and the KFC Foundation, spoke about addressing food waste through the KFC Harvest Project, which has been running for over six years. She shared that their goal is to expand the project to every KFC branch across Thailand in collaboration with SOS Thailand.

Dr. Pattamaporn Prachomrat, Policy Researcher at NSTDA, shared how Thailand’s Food Bank initiative, together with tax incentives for food donations, the development of Carbon Credit and Food Safety Guidelines, are shaping a future where food is valued — not wasted. Her vision reflected a system that connects science, policy, and compassion to create lasting impact.

From the community level, Thammasak Makanakhon, Leader of Khlong Lat Phachi Community, represented the spirit of the Local Food Rescue Volunteer Network — a grassroots movement powered by people who believe that no one should go hungry. What started as a small Food Rescue Kitchen has grown into a nationwide network of volunteers who bring rescued food directly to those in need.

Closing the event, environmental storytellers Chanut Wudhiwigaigarn (Kong Green Green) and Wannasingh Prasertkul (TUEN Channel) reminded everyone that storytelling can be a powerful tool for change. Through their experiences in environmental communication and filmmaking, they inspired audiences to look deeper, care more, and act with purpose for the planet.

Together, these voices painted a powerful picture of hope — proving that when individuals, communities, and organizations come together, every meal saved and every story shared brings Thailand one step closer to a more sustainable and inclusive food future.

SOS Thailand Awards 2025

This growing network represents an inspiring new era in Thailand’s national-to-local collaboration — a beautiful tapestry woven by volunteers, organizations, and communities to build the country’s first-ever nationwide food bank system.

The event’s warm atmosphere was enriched by meaningful connections between corporate and community partners, fostering the kind of authentic collaboration that transforms intentions into actions. Amid ongoing global challenges in food security and sustainability, SOS Thailand remains steadfast in our mission to fight hunger and reduce food waste. SOS Thailand Awards 2025 marks the beginning of a new, promising chapter — one that not only rescues food but also rescues the future.
