We are proud to share that SOS Thailand has received funding from the Government of Japan for the second time under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP). The program dedicated to strengthening human security and advancing sustainable social development at the community level. This renewed support is not just a milestone. It is validation of measurable, scalable impact.
2026: EXPANDING AND STRENGTHENING THE REGIONAL FOOD RESCUE SYSTEM
On 9 February 2026, the second Memorandum of Understanding was signed between H.E. OTAKA Masato, Ambassador of Japan to Thailand, and Tawee Impoolsup, Country Manager of SOS Thailand. SOS Thailand was selected as one of only two organizations funded in this round. This new grant enables the acquisition of a third food rescue truck, stationed in SOS Phuket branch to strengthen food redistribution capacity across Southern Thailand. The Ambassador named the vehicle “Satoshi,” meaning a person with profound understanding and wisdom in life — reflecting a shared commitment to long-term, sustainable solutions.
Scaling What Works
Our Food Rescue system operates through multi-level collaboration — engaging local communities, private sector partners, and international supporters. With strengthened logistics infrastructure, we are accelerating our ability to:
Increase surplus food recovery
Expand geographic coverage
Strengthen operational capacity
Reinforce community-level food security
The continued partnership under the GGP reflects strong confidence in our operational excellence and measurable impact. As we scale our efforts, we remain committed to maximizing every resource entrusted to us — transforming surplus into sustenance and advancing long-term food security.
2023: TURNING INFRASTRUCTURE INTO IMPACT
In March 2023, building on over seven years of impact addressing food insecurity among grassroots communities and vulnerable populations nationwide, SOS Thailand secured funding under the GGP Project. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with H.E. Nashida Kazuya, Ambassador of Japan to Thailand at the time. Through this support, we received two refrigerated trucks under the GGP Project. These trucks —Kenji and Keiko— began operations in the Bangkok area in May 2023. Since deployment, they have generated transformative results through the Food Rescue System:

These are not just numbers. They represent communities supported, food loss and waste reduced, and a stronger, more resilient food system in action.
