What if surplus food could help build a nationwide food security network?
We are taking an important step toward strengthening Thailand’s food security for all — and here’s what we’ve achieved so far.
Today, Thailand is taking an important step toward building a stronger and more sustainable food system through the development of SOS Thailand’s Food Bank.
SOS Thailand’s Food Bank Program is an initiative that collects and redistributes surplus food to charitable organizations supporting vulnerable groups in society, including low-income communities, people with disabilities, homeless individuals, and orphanages.

This has been our flagship food program over the past three years and remains a key part of our future mission to strengthen local food rescue systems across Thailand. To make this initiative possible, we have partnered closely with the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), who has been with us since the very beginning of the program, alongside partners from various sectors.
Beyond increasing access to food and reducing food insecurity, SOS Thailand’s Food Bank Program can also play a critical role as a distribution network during national crises and disasters.
At the heart of this initiative is a localized food rescue system designed to maximize access and operational efficiency across the country. The SOS Thailand’s Food Bank program works through trained intermediary teams known as ‘Local Food Rescue Volunteer Team’ — community-based volunteer networks capable of accessing, collecting, and redistributing surplus food throughout Thailand.

Every intermediary team must first complete training and certification by SOS Thailand to ensure food safety standards, operational efficiency, and responsible distribution practices.
Today, our growing network has already reached 19 provinces across the country, and this is only the beginning! The goal is to expand to 30 provinces by 2028, bringing food security closer to every corner of Thailand.

At the same time, we are also working to advance tax incentive measures that encourage businesses to donate surplus food, creating lasting benefits for communities, the economy, and the environment.
Meaningful change happens through collaboration. Together, let’s shape a more resilient and sustainable food system for Thailand.
