‘Mango season has passed, but both the pandemic and the economic situation caused an oversupply of the delicious fruit. Unfortunately, many vendors had to dump those unsold mangos. Hence, Khun Nam, the market management team, and the Talad See Moom Mueng vendors collected 6,378 kilograms of mangoes and donated to SOS Thailand team.
SOS is very happy that these delicious fruits did not end up in landfills but instead, we were able to distribute them to different communities. Some were taken to our Rescue Kitchen Program for redistributing to the people under quarantine and affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Bang Phlat district, where volunteers in the community worked together to distribute to community members and medical staff, and nurses at Anan Phatthana 2 Hospital beds. In addition to that, people in the Don Muang district community worked together to make mango juice and shared it within their community!
Another batch of donations was given to the medical staff and nurses at the field hospital of Thammasat University to support medical practitioners, nurses, and other volunteers including the quarantined patients.
At this time, any support is essential to support everyone during this difficult time. If you are interested in supporting our operation and support the community kitchen around Bangkok, Phuket, and Hua Hin, contact us! You can help us reach more people!
